Position Summary:

The Market Analyst is responsible for supporting the business objectives for assigned product lines, identifying/analyzing opportunities for new product development, product rationalization, service improvement, and marketing existing products to drive product-line growth. Responsible for benchmarking product performance vs competitors, analyzing product trends in the marketplace and developing strategies for top line growth based upon research and analysis.

The Market Analyst is responsible for understanding and researching market data, sales data and customer needs, working closely with sales, product development & manufacturing team members to translate data into opportunity and respond to market feedback. This role requires effective analytic, communication, decision-making and strategic thinking skills to support and help develop multi-generational product plans.

Typical Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with product managers to analyze market(s) and define, develop and launch new products and sales tools for top line growth
  • Develop and improve business reporting tools
  • Manage brand price books
  • Manage surplus sale reporting and data tools
  • Assist in developing new product launch packages and product promotions
  • Support product manager with analysis of engineered to order product sales opportunities
  • Develop strong understanding of lighting product specifications, customer applications and competitive marketplace (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats)
  • Manage the product rationalization process for all brands, including analysis of sales trends for identification of product discontinuation opportunities
  • Ensure product documentation is up to date (web page, specifications, installation instructions, selling tools, etc.) and price structure is competitive (and profitable)
  • Analyze product costs and assist in developing cost reductions and pricing strategies to optimize profitability
  • Develop inventory reporting tools and assist in developing strategies to reduce E&O
  • Assist in developing brand positioning sales tools
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments within the organization to achieve results and ensure that all expectations are defined and met, including sales, customer and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in developing long-term strategies, budgets, sales targets and other key business metrics
Typical Daily Tasks:
  • Coordinate special material requests for the brand, working with engineering and/or purchasing to determine feasibility, pricing and lead times; Manage process and metric reporting
  • Assist and support the Product Manager with new product assessments, field-testing, market testing and field feedback
  • Assist and support the Product Manager with the launch of new products that include installation instructions, spec sheets, sell sheets, photometrics, sales sampling, packaging, labeling, presentations, training, promotions and programs
  • Assist in developing sales promotions/ programs designed to drive product line growth/ inventory reduction
  • Maintain spec sheets, web pages, installation sheets and price book for the assigned product lines
  • Maintain product packaging and labeling
  • Work with Product Manager and purchasing team to help manage inventory based on demand forecasting and historical sales
  • Maintain Product Management files, including compiling supplier summaries and competitive information
  • Create and distribute assigned data reports to support key business objectives
  • Coordinate/ complete projects assigned by Product Manager to support product line strategies
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Management or Engineering discipline preferred
  • 1-3 years of product management, business analyst or marketing experience in manufacturing or lighting industry preferred
  • Motivated recent graduates welcome
  • High performer who is a creative problem solver with a passion for innovation, delivering quality and timely and continuously growing oneself and the organization
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with lighting terminology preferred
  • General understanding of manufacturing and engineering preferred
Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Google suite of products
  • Working knowledge of MAS500
  • Critical thinking, analytical, creative, detail-oriented, process-driven, organized
  • Self-directed multi-tasker that thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large quantities of statistical data and convert it into actionable results, using a variety of tools and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; Ability to send and receive information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to interface with all departments as well as outside customers and suppliers
